1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. The Promoter, being Expand Live (Pty) Ltd (Expand), as further defined hereunder as (“the Promoter”) offering “Expand” (“the Competition”) in terms of which the Participants can enter the Competition and stand a chance to win a prize, which Competition is regulated in terms of the Competition Rules set out herein.

1.2. Entry into the Competition is on web application and available on all internet enabled devices.

1.3. One (1) entry into the Competition is free every day.

1.4. Participants can subscribe for additional attempts per day described in services in section 8.

1.5. Participants wishing to obtain more information about the Competition, and/or a set of these Competition Rules, and/or the Privacy Policy, may view this at www.expand.co.za.

2. INTERPRETATION

2.1. In these Competition Rules, the following definitions apply (unless the context clearly indicates a contrary intention):

2.1.1. “Act” refers to the Consumer Protection Act, No. 68 of 2008, as amended;

2.1.2. “Business Day” refers to any day other than a Saturday or a Sunday or a day which from time to time is a proclaimed public holiday in the Republic of South Africa;

2.1.3. “Competition” refers to the promotional competition to which these Competition Rules pertain and in terms of which a Participant may stand a chance to win a Prize;

2.1.4. “Competition Period” refers to the period stated in clause 5;

2.1.5. “Competition Rules” refers to these rules, including the terms and conditions contained herein, regulating the Competition, as required by Section 36 of the Act;

2.1.6. “Expand” refers to Expand Live Pty Ltd who is the owner of the Intellectual Property;

2.1.7. “Participant” refers to a natural person who enters the Competition and meets the criteria set out in these Competition Rules;

2.1.8. “POPIA” refers to the Protection of Personal Information Act, No. 4 of 2013, as amended;

2.1.9. “Promoter” refers to Expand Live (Pty) Ltd;

2.1.10. “Prize” means either a cash, airtime, voucher or coupon prize which may be awarded to a Winner, as further described in clause 7;

2.1.11. “Winner” means a Participant who is successful in the Competition and is notified as such in terms of clause 7 and who meets the criteria provided for in these Competition Rules.

3. THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT

3.1. The Competition Rules contain certain terms and conditions which:

3.1.1. may limit the risk or liability of the promoter, or any relevant third party; and/or

3.1.2. may create risk or liability for the Participant; and/or

3.1.3. may compel the Participant to indemnify the promoter, or a relevant third party; and/or

3.1.4. may serve as an acknowledgement, by the Participant, of certain facts.

4. THE COMPETITION

4.1. The Competition is a skill-based contest that rewards Participants with prizes for their general knowledge and attention to brands, products and services in South Africa. Chance applies only after a Participant has successfully completed the skill-based requirements of the Competition.

5. COMPETITION PERIOD

5.1. The duration of the Competition Period, from July 2026 to December 2026, which may be updated from time to time.

6. WHO MAY PARTICIPATE

6.1. To participate in the competition, a Participant must:

6.1.1. be a natural person who is a citizen or a permanent resident of the Republic of South Africa;

6.1.2. be 18 years or older;

6.1.3. be able to participate in the Competition on a compatible internet enabled device.

6.2. The Participant, by entering the Competition, expressly acknowledges that they have read the Competition Rules before entering the Competition and that they understand and thereby unequivocally and irrevocably agrees to the Competition Rules.

6.3. It is a material term of the Competition that all Participants to this Competition participate entirely at their own risk.

7. PRIZES

7.1. Prizes are awarded by providing correct answers to questions posed in the game show.

7.2. Winners are selected at random by computer algorithm from the pool of correct entries received; all entries contained in the pool stands an equal chance of winning the prizes.

7.3. There is R5,000 (five thousand rand) in cash every day over the competition period.

7.4. You may play every day and winnings are unlimited.

7.5. Correct answers do not guarantee a prize.

7.6. Spelling must be accurate in all cases.

7.7. Winner must have updated their profile to completion to receive a prize:

7.7.1. Participants are only required to update their profile once and;

7.7.2. Participants will receive a winner SMS with instructions to update their profile;

7.7.3. Should a player not update their profile to completion within 24 hours of winning, they will forfeit their prize;

7.8. All Prizes, wherever reasonably possible, are paid on following Business Day.

7.9. Winnings won on weekends and public holidays will be paid on the nearest following Business Day.

7.10. Cash prizes are paid via Nedbank Cellphone Banking:

7.10.1. You will receive a digital voucher and PIN via SMS to redeem your cash.

8. SUBSCRIPTIONS, BILLING & REFUNDS

8.1. Subscription Options

8.1.1. Participants may enter the Competition free of charge once per day.

8.1.2. Participants may additionally elect to purchase a subscription that provides 2 (two) additional daily attempts via supported payment methods, including but not limited to airtime billing, credit card, Instant EFT, scan-to-pay services and PayStack.

8.2. Billing

8.2.1. Subscription fees are charged in advance on a recurring basis (daily, weekly or monthly, depending on the subscription selected). All applicable pricing is clearly disclosed to the Participant prior to confirmation of payment.

8.3. Immediate Access to Digital Services

8.3.1. By completing a subscription purchase, the Participant expressly agrees that access to the digital service is provided immediately upon successful payment confirmation.

8.4. Refund Policy

8.4.1. Due to the digital, skill-based and immediately consumable nature of the Competition and subscription services:

8.4.2. No refunds, reversals or credits will be provided once a subscription has been activated, whether partially used or unused.

8.4.3. This includes, without limitation, circumstances where the Participant forgets to cancel, does not participate, or misunderstands the rules of the Competition.

8.4.4. This policy is in accordance with Section 42 of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, which permits the exclusion of refunds for digital content and services once performance has commenced with the consumer’s consent.

8.4.5. Exceptional Circumstances

Refunds may be considered solely at the discretion of the Promoter in the following limited circumstances:

8.4.5.1. Duplicate charges resulting from a verified technical error;

8.4.5.2. Incorrect billing caused by a system malfunction attributable to the Promoter;

8.4.5.3. Extended service unavailability directly attributable to the Promoter.

8.4.5.4. Approved refunds, where applicable, will be processed to the original payment method used.

8.5. Cancellation

8.5.1. Participants may cancel their subscription at any time using the applicable cancellation method. Cancellation will prevent future charges but will not result in a refund for the current billing period. Subscription benefits will remain available until the end of the paid period.

9. PUBLICITY AND PRIVACY

9.1. By entering the Competition, Participants agree, unless the Promotor is otherwise advised, to the use of their names for promotional purposes related to the Competition, without compensation. The winning of a Prize is however not dependent upon the Winner agreeing to the use of their names for promotional purposes.

9.2. By entering the Competition, Participants agree to the processing of their personal information in accordance with the provisions of POPIA and in accordance with the Promotors Privacy Policy.

10. INDEMNIFICATION

10.1. By entering into the Competition, the Participant expressly agrees to the following indemnifications:

10.1.1. the Participant indemnifies and holds harmless the Promoter, and their respective promotional partners, their employees and their agents (the “Indemnified Parties”) of any and all liability pertaining to any damage, cost, injuries and/or losses of whatsoever nature and howsoever arising as a result of their participation in the Competition and related events and activities, including, without limitation, personal injuries, death, and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy; and

10.1.2. the Participant accepts that the Indemnified Parties will not be responsible for any costs, damage or otherwise, howsoever incurred by the Winner subsequent to claiming the Prize.

11. GENERAL

11.1. Prizes are not transferrable to any 3rd party. These Competition Rules are read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy, and by entering the Competition, the Participant unequivocally and irrevocably agrees to these Competition Rules and the Privacy Policy.

11.2. Each winner is selected by a random algorithm, ensuring every game is fair and unbiased.

11.3. Participants may not attempt to do anything unlawful and/or dishonest to change the outcome of the Competition in any way.

11.4. If a Participant or a Winner fails to comply with any provision of these Competition Rules, the Participant and/or Winner will be disqualified and will forfeit any Prize(s).

11.5. The Promotor may refuse to award any Prize to a Winner if there is a reasonable suspicion of any irregularities or fraudulent activities.

11.6. Unlawful, fraudulent, or otherwise dishonest conduct or any conduct in breach of these Competition Rules by a Participant and/or their parents/guardians, determined in the Promotors discretion, may result in disqualification from the Competition and ineligibility to win any Prize.

11.7. If for any reason any Prize Winner is not eligible to win the Prize, that person will lose his or her right to the Prize and will forfeit the Prize.

11.8. The Promotor reserves the right to award the Prize to the next randomly drawn Participant, but shall not be compelled to award the Prize to any other person.

11.9. The Promotor reserves the right at any time, and from time to time, to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Competition with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control, including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud.

11.10. The Promotor may amend, modify, or change these Competition Rules in their sole and absolute discretion without notice. By participating or continuing to participate in the Competition, Participants and Winners agree and understand that they will be bound by the amended Competition Rules.

11.11. Subject to the Act, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable laws, save in respect of gross negligence or wilful misconduct on the part of the Promoter (“Indemnified Parties” and their respective business partners (or anyone representing the Indemnified Parties) will have no liability and will be released and held harmless from any claim, action, liability, loss, injury or damage, including, without limitation, personal injury or death to any Participant or Winner or any third party or damage to personal or real property due in whole or in part, whether directly or indirectly, by any reason whatever, including, without limitation, the acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of the prize(s) and/or participation in the Competition.

11.12. All decisions of the Promotor regarding these Competition Rules, the Competition and/or the Prizes are final and unappealable, and no correspondence will be entered into with any Participant or Winner.

11.13. The Competition Rules will be construed, interpreted and enforced exclusively in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

11.14. Any term and condition contained herein, or which is applicable to the Competition that may be, or may become, illegal, prohibited or unenforceable under any law or regulation will be ineffective to the extent of such illegality, voidness, prohibition or unenforceability without invalidating the remaining provisions.

11.15. The Promoter has taken all reasonable steps to ensure that the content communicated as part of the promotion or game is factually correct.

11.16. Participants must ensure that they use a compatible internet enabled device when entering.

11.17. On payment and/or the sending of cash and/or airtime and/or vouchers and/or vouchers and/or coupons, as the case may be, all risk and liability will pass to the winner.

11.18. The Promotor, will not be responsible for any additional terms and conditions imposed by third parties in redeeming and/or receiving the Prize.

11.19. By participating in this Competition, the Participant acknowledges and agrees that their personal information, as defined in POPIA, may be shared with necessary 3rd parties based on your consent and to the extent necessary for the due and proper running of the Competition. Personal Information will only be processed in accordance with South African consumer and data protection legislation.

11.20. By participating in this Competition, the Participant consents, unless otherwise advised, to receiving communication from our advertisers, sponsors, affiliates and partners.

11.21. The Participant also agrees that we may provide statistics about our traffic patterns, Competition statistics and other information to our advertisers, sponsors, affiliates and partners.
